Walking can lower heart disease risk among kidney disease patients
Walking can lower heart disease risk among kidney disease patients (April 8, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From the UK - Walking may reduce risk of heart disease and infections in kidney patients, according to a report published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. Researchers first studied 15 patients with chronic kidney disease. Participants had improved responsiveness in certain immune cells following a 30 minute walk. Researchers then had 20 patients walk for 30 minutes a day, 5x a week. These participants saw reduced immune cell activation and markers of systemic inflammation when compared to 20 participants who did not walk.
