Pesticide exposure during pregnancy linked to autism (June 24, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From California - Exposure to pesticides during pregnancy may raise risk of having a child with autism, according to a report published in Environmental Health Perspectives. Researchers studied nearly 1,000 individuals taking part in the Childhood Risk of Autism from Genetics and the Environment study. Researchers compared participants residential addresses during conception and pregnancy to maps where pesticides were known to be used. They found that pregnant women living in close proximity to these farms where pesticides were used had a 2/3 increased risk of having a child with autism.
