Only half of women at risk of BRCA mutation are recommended for genetic testing

(April 8, 2013 - Insidermedicine)

From Pennsylvania - Only half of all breast patients at risk of having a BRCA mutation are sent for genetic testing, according to a report presented at the AACR's annual meeting. Researchers surveyed over 2,200 breast cancer patients aged 18-64. Researchers found that, while women at low risk of the mutation were properly advised, only 53% of those who were at high risk were urged to get genetic testing done.
