New layer found in cornea may be linked to glaucoma
New layer found in cornea may be linked to glaucoma (February 19, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From the UK - A new layer found in the cornea may be linked to glaucoma, according to a report published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology. Researchers studied the human cornea, finding a new layer known as Dua's Layer. The layer is extremely thin but also very tough. It is located at the back of the cornea, between the the corneal storm and Descemet's membrane. They found that the layer is intertwined with the tribecular meshwork and may inlay a part in why this drainage system will sometimes malfunction causing intraocular pressure and Glaucoma.
