Marijuana doubles risk of stroke in young adults

(February 6, 2013 - Insidermedicine)

From New Zealand - Marijuana may raise risk of stroke in young adults, according to a report presented at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference. Researchers examined 160 stroke patients between the ages of 18 and 55. All participants had a urine test upon admission to the hospital. When compared to matched controls, researchers found that these stroke patients were 2.3x more likely to test positive for cannabis in their urine tests.
