Heavy drinking in midlife may hasten memory loss by 6 years (January 15, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From London - A new report published in Neurology finds that heavy drinking in midlife may hasten memory loss in later life. Researchers studied over 5,000 men and over 2,000 women with an average age of 56. Participants had their drinking habits assessed and were followed for over 10 years. Results showed that middle-aged men that drank more than two and a half drinks per day were found to have sped up their memory loss by up to 6 years.
