Gestational diabetes linked to heart disease later in life
Gestational diabetes linked to heart disease later in life (March 12, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From California - Gestational diabetes may raise risk of heart disease later in life, according to a report published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. Researchers studied nearly 900 women between the ages of 18-30 years. Participants had one or more births and had their carotid artery wall thickness measured for an average of 12 years, until the women reached middle age. Results showed that those who developed gestational diabetes were at raised risk of developing early heart disease in midlife.
