Eating apples, grapes and blueberries may lower risk of type 2 diabetes (August 30, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From Boston - Eating whole fruits such as apples, blueberries and grapes may lower risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a report published in the British Medical Journal. Researchers reviewed data on nearly 200,00- individuals taking part in long term studies, totalling over 3 million years of follow-up. Overall, 6.5% of participants developed diabetes. Results showed that that three servings per week of blueberries; grapes and raisins; apples and pears greatly reduced risk of type 2 diabetes--while increased fruit juice consumption had the opposite effect.
