Depression raises risk of death in heart failure patients (May 26, 2015 - Insidermedicine) From London - Depression greatly raises death risk in heart failure patients, according to a report presented at the Heart Failure Association of European Society of Cardiology. Researchers studied over 100 heart failure patients enrolled in an ongoing observational study. Participants were followed for a mean of 302 days. Results showed that those with moderate or severe depression were at 5x increased risk of death compared to those with no or mild depression.
