BPA linked to obesity in girls
BPA linked to obesity in girls (June 13, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From California – BPA exposure may raise risk of obesity in puberty-aged girls, according to a report published in PLOS ONE. Researchers studied over 1,300 male and female children in grades 4-12, examining information on participant’s BPA levels as well as other factors associated with obesity. Results showed that girls age 9-12 who had a higher than average BPA level were at 2x increased risk of having a BMI in the top 10 percentile. Those with the highest levels of BPA were 5x increased risk.
