From the UK - Commuting to work by walking, bike or public transport can help people lose weight , according to a report published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health. Researchers examined data on over 4000 participating in the British Household Panel Survey. Those who switched from cars to walking, biking, or public transport saw a average reduction in BMI equivalent to approximately 1 kg over a two year period. Those with longer commutes experienced larger losses, with commutes longer than 30 minutes, resulting in average losses of approximately 7 kg over the period.
