Trichloroethylene exposure linked to liver cancer

(May 30, 2013 - Insidermedicine)

From Denmark - Trichloroethylene exposure may raise risk of liver cancer, according to a report published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Researchers studied a cohort of workers who had each been documented for TCE exposure (a chlorinated dry-cleaning solvent and metal degreaser) between 1947-1989. Results showed a statistically significant increased incidence of liver and cervical cancer among the workers. The authors emphasize that more research is needed to explore this link.
