The Week In Review
|
|
In this weeks Insidermedicine review, Dr Sanjay Sharma discusses new research in retinitis pigmentosa which shows that injecting stem cells into the eye helped rats with the condition. The interesting thing was that the cells were already starting to develop into light sensing cells- that was thya were already starting to deteriorate. These cells did better as transplanted cells that did embryonic stem cells. In addition reseach showing that process changes at the hospital level can ensure that patients with heart attack get angioplasty within the 90 minute window that is recommended.
