Strawberries and blueberries found to lower risk of heart attack in women
Strawberries and blueberries found to lower risk of heart attack in women (January 14, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From Boston – Strawberries and blueberries may reduce risk of heart attack in women, according to a report published in Circulation: Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers studied nearly 100,000 women ages 25-42 who were taking part in a long-term study. Participants reported their diet every 4 years over an 18-year period. Results showed that women who ate the most blueberries and strawberries had a 32% reduced risk of heart attack when compared to women who ate the berries only once a month or less. These women were at reduced risk even when compared to women who ate a diet that was high in other fruits and vegetables.
