Sleep apnea may raise risk of osteoporosis
Sleep apnea may raise risk of osteoporosis (April 25, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From Taiwan - Sleep apnea patients are at increased risk of osteoporosis, according to research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. Researchers studied over 1,300 sleep apnea patients between 2000 and 2008. Participants were followed for 6 years and compared to over 20,000 controls. Results showed that incidence of osteoporosis was 2.7x higher among sleep apnea patients.
