Skin cancer may be linked to lower risk of Alzheimer

(May 20, 2013 - Insidermedicine)

From New York - Skin cancer may be associated with a lower risk of Alzheimer's disease, according to a report published in Neurology. Researchers studied over 1,100 individuals with an average age of 79. Participants were dementia free at the outset of the study and were followed for 3.7 years. Results showed that those who had skin cancer in the past had a nearly 80% reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
