Seniors lower heart attack risk by increasing exercise
Seniors lower heart attack risk by increasing exercise (May 7, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From Boston - A new report published in Circulation finds that seniors can lower their heart attack risk by being more active. Researchers studied nearly 1,000 individuals with an average age of 71 at the outset of the study. Participants had their heart monitored over a 24 hour period and followed for five years. Results showed that the more physical activity the participants underwent, the better their heart rate variability. Those who increased their walking distance or pace over the 5 years also had better heart variability than those who reduced their distance or pace.
