Secondhand smoke raises risk of hospital readmission for asthma among children
Secondhand smoke raises risk of hospital readmission for asthma among children (January 22, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From Cincinnati - A new report published in Pediatrics finds that secondhand smoke exposure raises a child's risk of hospital readmission for asthma. Researchers studied over 600 children between 1 and 16 years of age who were admitted to a hospital for asthma. Children were followed for at least a year following their admission. Results showed that children exposed to secondhand smoke were 2x more likely to be readmitted for asthma than those not exposed at all.
