Sauna use may reduce cardiovascular risk (February 27, 2015 - Insidermedicine) From Finland - Sauna use may reduce risk of cardiovascular death, according to research published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Researchers studied over 2,300 men between the ages of 42 and 60 years. After following participants for a median of 21 years, results showed that risk of sudden cardiac death was 22%Q lower among men who had 2-3 sauna sessions a week, and 63% lower for those who had 4-7 sessions a week. Risk of coronary heart disease was 23% lower with 2-3 weekly sauna sessions, 48% lower with 4-7, and finally risk of cardiovascular death was 27% lower with 2-3 sauna sessions a week, and 50% lower with 4-7 sessions a week.
