People with vision problems or uncorrected refractive errors are at greater risk of balance issues
People with vision problems or uncorrected refractive errors are at greater risk of balance issues (June 7, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From California – People with poor vision are at much greater risk of diminished balance, according to a report published in JAMA Ophthalmology. Researchers studied nearly 5,000 adults over the age of 40 who were taking part in the 2001-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Participants had their vision and balance tested over the course of the study. Results showed that those with visual impairment and those with uncorrected refractive errors had much higher rates of falling during balance tests than those with normal vision.
