Parental death during childhood raises risk of mortality in young adulthood
Parental death during childhood raises risk of mortality in young adulthood (July 30, 2014 - Insidermedicine)
From Denmark - Having a parent die during childhood greatly increases one's risk of death in early adulthood, according to a report published in PLOS Medicine. Researchers studied data on all children born in Denmark, Sweden and nearly 90% of those born in Finland, from 1968-2008. Results showed that individuals exposed to parental death before the age of 18 were at 50% increased risk of dying during the study period than those who did not have a parent die.
