OCD diagnosis raises risk of schizophrenia (September 5, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From Denmark - A diagnosis of obsessive compulsive disorder greatly raises risk of schizophrenia, according to a report published in JAMA Psychiatry. Researchers studied data on 3 million people in a time period spanning over 50 years. Results showed that a prior diagnosis of OCD was associated with a raised risk of developing schizophrenia later in life. Children of parents with OCD were also at raised risk of schizophrenia.
