New stroke guidelines recommend treatment within 60 minutes

From South Carolina - Stroke patients should receive treatment within 60 minutes of arriving at the hospital, according to new recommendations published in Stroke. The new guidelines, prepared by the American Stroke Association, recommend clot-dissolving treatment within 60 minutes of arrival, and if feasible, immediate transfer to the closest available stroke centre. Administration of tPA must be given within 4.5 hours of symptom onset.
