New Canadian guidelines for treatment of fibromyalgia

(May 7, 2013 - Insidermedicine)

From Montreal - A review article published in CMAJ outlines new Canadian guidelines for treating fibromyalgia. Researchers developed the guidelines specifically for primary care physicians, to help them diagnose and treat the condition--characterized by chronic pain throughout the body, causing fatigue, depression and sleep problems. The guidelines recommend improving quality of life in the patient with non-pharmaceutical interventions such as exercise, cognitive behavioural therapy and relaxation techniques.
