Migraines may cause permanent brain lesions
Migraines may cause permanent brain lesions (August 29, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From Denmark - A new report published in Neurology finds that migraines may permanently alter brain structure. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis comprised of six population-based studies and 13 clinic-based studies. Researchers assessed the relationship between migraine or migraine with aura  and brain lesions, brain volume changes or abnormalities on MRI scans. Results showed that migraine with aura raised risk of brain lesions by 68%, while migraine with no aura raised risk by 34%--when compared to those who had no migraines.
