MRI screening for pancreatic cancer
MRI screening for pancreatic cancer (April 9, 2015 - Insidermedicine) From Sweden - Research published in JAMA Surgery examines MRI Screening for those at high risk of pancreatic caner. Researchers studied 40 patients, 38 who had an increased risk of pancreatic cancer based on family history. Participants had an average age of nearly 50 years and were followed for an average of 12.9 months, undergoing MRI scans after one year if their initial screening was negative. The scans identified pancreatic lesions in 40% of patients, 5 of whom underwent surgery.
