Impulsive teens more likely to develop drinking problems
Impulsive teens more likely to develop drinking problems (August 1, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From Liverpool - Impulsive teens are more likely to drink heavily, according to a report published in Addiction. Researchers studied nearly 300 adolescents aged 12-13 years at the outset of the study. Participants underwent computer tests that assessed inhibitory control, risk-taking, and the ability to delay gratification. These tests were repeated every six months for two years. Results showed that participants who were most impulsive on the tests were more likely to drink more or have problems with alcohol than those who were not impulsive.
