Hysterectomy does not appear to raise risk of heart disease

(May 17, 2013 - Insidermedicine)

From Pittsburgh - Hysterectomy does not raise risk of heart disease, according to a report published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Researchers studied over 3,300 postmenopausal women between the ages of 42-52. Participants were part of a long-term study and were followed for 11 years. Results showed that, contrary to many previous studies, having a hysterectomy with or without ovary removal did not increase risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
