High salt diet connected to heart disease risk in diabetic patients (July 31, 2014 - Insidermedicine)
From Japan - According to research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, a diet high in salt raises risk of heart disease in diabetic patients. Researchers studied nearly 2,000 individuals between the ages of 40 and 70. All participants had a diagnosis of diabetes. and were followed for 8 years. Results showed that those who ate 5.9 g of salt a day had a 2x increased risk of developing heart disease than those who ate only 2.8 g per day
