Healthy diet improves lung function in COPD patients (May 26, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From Nebraska - According to research presented at the ATS 2014 International Conference, a healthy diet can improve lung function in COPD patients. Researchers studied over 2,100 COPD patients taking part in a three year study. Participants reported dietary intake at eight time points over the study period. Results showed that those who recently ate fish, grapefruit, bananas or cheese showed improved lung function, less emphysema , improved six-minute walk scores, and a decrease in inflammatory markers linked to poor lung function.
