Head injuries raise risk of early death threefold
Head injuries raise risk of early death threefold (January 16, 2013 - Insidermedicine) From Oxford - Research published in JAMA Psychiatry finds that head injuries greatly raise risk of early death. Researchers studied over 40 years of data on over 200,000 traumatic brain injury survivors, as well as on 150,000 siblings of the survivors, and over 2 million matched controls. Results showed that those who survived six months after suffering a TBI were 3x more likely to die prematurely when compared to controls, and 2.6x more likely than their siblings.
