Epilepsy drug shows promise for Alzheimer's
Epilepsy drug shows promise for Alzheimer (May 18, 2015 - Insidermedicine)
From British Columbia - A new report published in Alzheimer’s Research & Therapy finds that an epilepsy drug may have potential in treating Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers studied a rodent model with Alzheimer’s disease, giving the rodents a low dosage of the epilepsy drug levetiracetam. They found that the drug completely reversed memory loss in the rodents, though it is unclear exactly how the drug works to do so. Larger clinical trials are needed to verify the results.
