Effect of retinal nerve fiber layer loss on quality of life in glaucoma patients (January 13, 2015 - Insidermedicine)
From San Diego - A new report published in JAMA Ophthalmology examines the effect of retinal nerve fiber layer loss in glaucoma has on quality of life. Researchers studied 130 patients suffering from glaucoma. Participants were followed for a mean of 3.5 years. Researchers conducted the National Eye Institute's Visual Function Questionnaire once a year and underwent OCT and SAP every 6 months. Results showed that progressive binocular RNFL thickness loss was linked to longitudinal loss in quality of life, even after researchers adjusted for progressive visual field loss.
