Eating more fruits and vegetables improves mood in young adults

From New Zealand - Eating more fruits and vegetables can boost mood in young people, according to a report published in the British Journal of Health Psychology. Researchers studied nearly 300 young adults, having participants complete a food diary for 3 weeks. Every day, participants were instructed to rate how they felt using nine positive and nine negative adjectives, as well as record what they had eaten that day. Results showed that those who consumed more fruits and vegetables during the day reported feeling calmer, happier, and more energetic. This association was not found for other foods.
