Depression nearly doubles risk of stroke in middle-aged women

From Australia - Depression nearly doubles the risk of stroke in middle-aged women, according to a report published in Stroke. Researchers studied over 10,000 women aged 47-52, following participants for 12 years. Overall, nearly 1/4 of the women suffered from depression. Results showed that depressed women were nearly 2.5x more likely to suffer a stroke than those who were not depressed.
