Breastfeeding could save UK a significant amount of money yearly
Breastfeeding could save UK a significant amount of money yearly (December 8, 2014 - Insidermedicine) From London - Breastfeeding could save the National Health Services in the UK about 40 million pounds a year, according to a report published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood. Researchers studied five diseases that are known to be impacted by breastfeeding: for infants, gastrointestinal infection, lower respiratory tract infection, acute otitis media, necrotising enterocolitis in preterms, and breast cancer in the mothers. They found that if 75% of neonatal babies breastfeed exclusively for four months, then the NHS could save up to 40 million pounds a year.
