Better patient handoffs can greatly reduce medical errors in hospitals
Better patient handoffs can greatly reduce medical errors in hospitals (November 10, 2014 - Insidermedicine)
From Boston - Hospitals can reduced medical errors with better patient handoffs, according to a report published in the NEJM. Researchers studied over 10,000 hospital admissions, evaluating patient handoffs and then instituting a six month intervention phase in which hospital employees practiced new I-PASS handoff processes. Results showed that these processes helped reduced medical errors by 23% over the time period.
