From Maryland- Looks like the little purple pill doesn’t cause you to turn blue. The FDA has stated that there is no link between heart attack, heart failure or sudden cardiac death in those who take either Prilosec or Nexium for heart burn.  But the FDA’s review is still ongoing.

From Washington- Stress may lead to gum and periodontal disease. Researchers have noted that 57% of studies found an association between stress or anxiety and periodontal disease. The link is believed to be related to increased levels of cortisol that is released during times of
stress. Cortisol can dampen the immune system and negatively affect the gums and bone.

From Baltimore- Women who see jagged lines prior to having a migraine are at higher risk for a stroke. Their stroke risk increases by 50% when compared to those who don’t have this phenomenon- called a migraine aura. Smoking and taking the pill only made things worse in those with aura- their risk of stroke rose by 7 fold.

And finally, back to Washington- Plastic milk bottle bad for baby? It appears that a US Expert panel is concerned about the effect of bisphenol A- a compound in some plastics- because it may have an affect on developing fetuses and children. The panel voiced some concern that the compound may be linked to neural and behavioral defects.
